Original Botanical Watercolour Painting of a Dandelion Seed Head
Dandelions are easily recognised countryside flowers. A rather stubborn weed which multiplies rapidly they are certainly not popular with gardeners in their lawns and borders. However they are a really important food source for bees, butterflies, beetles and insects. Particularly early in the season before other flowers are blooming. A dandelion flower goes through a number of changes in its lifetime. This painting depicts the seed head just before it opens to reveal the dandelion clock much loved by children. Indeed the clock is designed to be blown by the wind, it is a really effective seed dispersal mechanism. Who knew the seed head was so pretty though, I hope you like it.
