Description
Original Painting of a Dik-dik (Madoqua cavendishi) by Wildlife Artist & Online Art Tutor Paul Hopkinson
Dik-diks are a small antelope, indeed they are no bigger than a hare. Their name comes from a sort of whistling sound that they make with their nose. Interestingly the dark spot below the inside corner of their eyes, produces a dark, sticky secretion which they use to mark their territories, and their elongated noses help them to stay cool in extremely hot temperatures.
