Description

Original Painting of a Eurasian Otter (Lutra lutra) by Wildlife Artist & Online Art Tutor Paul Hopkinson

This painting, is my way of supporting and spreading the word about the UK Wild Otter Trust (ukwildottertrust.org), and the amazing work that they do. Jo and I recently attended an inspiring talk given by the founder of the charity, and a friend of the Trust has supplied the photo that I worked from. I will be donating 15% of the sale value to the charity, to help them continue the very valuable work that they do.

Otters are an elusive mammal, but nevertheless they remain one of our top predators here in the UK. They feed mainly on fish, but will take other aquatic dwelling animals when the opportunity arises. Their fur is incredibly thick, keeping them warm for their life in water, but they do need clean rivers with plenty of suitable habitat for their underground burrows.

A bit about me:
I am a full time professional artist based in North Devon in the United Kingdom. Specialising in wildlife – animals, birds, insects and botanical studies, I love to capture the life within my paintings. I very much enjoy the process of working with the watercolour medium to create fine detail. My portfolio is ever expanding and many of my paintings are available as tutorials – both written and video. Take a look on my channels, and you may see this painting being created, maybe even have a go yourself!
Thank you for browsing my work, and I look forward to hearing from you.
