Description

COMMON POPPY – also known as the Field Poppy or Corn Poppy (Papaver rhoeas)
This iconic flower has long been associated with remembrance, so it seems fitting to be releasing this tutorial on November 11th, Armistice Day or Remembrance Day as it is also known. This bright, cheerful little flower flourished in the battle worn landscapes left by the First World War, showing nature’s resilience in the face of adversity. The poppy has always been associated with arable fields, but was considered a ā€˜weed’ and declined as a result. However, resilient as ever, it is now a flower of choice, for anyone wanting to establish a wild flower area within their garden or local area. So lovely to see it’s cheerful little face across our landscape once again.
