Description
Original Painting of a Southern Rockhopper Penguin by Wildlife Artist & Online Art Tutor Paul Hopkinson
At just 20 inches tall, the Southern Rockhopper is one of the smallest penguins, but is also one of the most numerous. They come together in their thousands to breed in burrows constructed amongst the tall shoreline grasses, but sadly their numbers are in decline and at serious risk due to overfishing and pollution (amongst other reasons). They are an agile bird, and they do indeed hop, with both feet together, up craggy island edges north of Antarctica.
There is a single very close up photo included to show the level of detail that has been achieved in the painting.
