Description

Original Painting of a Chiffchaff (Phylloscopus collybita) by Wildlife Artist & Online Art Tutor Paul Hopkinson

Chiffchaffs are mainly a spring migrant to the UK, we look forward to hearing their ‘chiff chaff chiff chaff’ song, as a sign that warmer days are on their way. They can arrive from Africa, from late February onwards, although an increasing number are over-wintering here now. These tiny insect eating birds, favour a woodland or scrub environment, but will also use parks and gardens.
