Description
This study of an Orange-winged Parrot is completed using pen and wash techniques, the lesson will guide you through the whole process in easy steps.
As the Orange-winged Parrot’s Latin name (Amazona amazonica ) suggests, this bird originates from South America. The wings are orange underneath, so this colour can be seen when they are in flight. This bird nests in trees, laying three or four white eggs, which the female will incubate for about 26 days. The chicks take another 60 days to reach an age at which they can fledge.
I’ve classed the lesson in the beginner category, whilst there is a lot of drawing involved, once you master drawing feathers, you will be well away. It is of course a pen and wash study, but you could use one technique without the other if this was your personal preference.
This is an instant PDF download, you could start painting this Orange-winged Parrot in a matter of minutes. You don’t even need to wait for the post to arrive! You will receive a 33-page PDF document. Set out in the same way as the tutorials I write for magazines. However, you get lots more large photos of the different stages.
Downloadable lessons enable you to work at your own speed, you can dip in and out of the content, you can spend time studying the fine details and practise the various techniques as often as you like.
Have fun with this lesson, take your time and let me know how you get on. Try printing off the last few pages which have the larger versions of the step-by-step photos for additional help.
