Red-eyed Tree Frog

Description

Original Watercolour Painting of a Red Eyed Tree Frog by Devon based Wildlife Artist and Online Art Tutor, Paul Hopkinson

These small amphibians live in tropical rain forests. Their green bodies enable them to blend in with forest vegetation. But their bright eyes, feet and tummies are quickly revealed when they are disturbed by a potential predator. This sudden flash of colour is thought to startle the predator and gives the frog those split seconds to leap away to safety. However, for a watercolourist, their bright colours were just an absolute joy to paint.
