An Original Watercolour Butterfly Painting – Small Copper Illustration, with Realistic Detail

Small Coppers are relatively small summer butterflies, often seen in ones or twos. Males will usually stake their claim on a territory and will chase off any other insects that happen to pass through. The adults feed on ragwort and thistles, whilst the caterpillars favour common and sheep’s sorrel as their main food plant. I was fortunate enough to spot the subject of our tutorial within our local rewilding area, and it was lovely to work from one of my own photos again.

Packaging & Materials
I have used the finest brushes to produce the tiny details which bring this painting to life.
The painting will be carefully wrapped in cellophane and protected with additional packing. I aim for my originals to arrive with you in the same condition that they left me. I use the Royal Mail’s ‘Signed for Next Day’ or ‘International Tracked’ service.

I am a full time professional artist based in North Devon in the United Kingdom. Specialising in wildlife – animals, birds, insects and botanical studies, I love to capture the life within my paintings. I very much enjoy the process of working with the watercolour medium to create fine detail.
