Description

Original Painting of a Reticulated Giraffe (Giraffa reticulate) by Wildlife Artist & Online Art Tutor Paul Hopkinson

In 1990 there were estimated to be 36,000 Reticulated Giraffe in the wild, now the estimate is around 16,000, a decline of over 50%. Their characteristic orange-brown patches are divided by an obvious network of white lines, which extends over the whole body, this is very different to other giraffe species. In the wild, Reticulated Giraffe can be found in north, and north-eastern Kenya, with isolated populations in parts of southern Somalia & Ethiopia.
